Hike For ManKind 2015 kicks off on May 9th, and you're invited to take part in the festivities.
Mission Peak Regional Preserve is our meeting spot for a day of fun and excitement. Come one, come all, bring a guest, and hang loose. This is going to be epic!
Last year the Hike for ManKind raised over $2700.00 in donations to OneChild, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing disadvantaged children with new clothing and school supplies. You can see what OneChild is all about here: http://onechildca.org/
This year, we will again be sponsoring OneChild. DRYCO pledges to donate two Scholastic Books for each hiker that makes it up the mountain and one $20.00 Payless gift card toward a pair of new shoes for each attendee of the afternoon barbecue.
We will begin the day with an optional light breakfast at DRYCO at 7:00 am, followed by meeting at the Ohlone College "Student Parking K" lot at the base of Mission Peak at 8:00 am. Once everyone is present, we will begin the trek up the mountain until the summit is reached by all who can make it.
After a short break to take a few photos (and catch our breath), the group will make its way back down to the base. The total distance of the hike is about 5 miles, so make sure you stretch and stay hydrated!
After the Hike, an afternoon barbecue at DRYCO's main office in Fremont will again be available to all hikers and those who may want to be a part of the Hike for ManKind but couldn't make it for the morning portion of the event.
For those who want to go above and beyond, OneChild accepts the following donations for school supplies:
- Pencil case
- Binder paper
- Spiral notebooks
- Crayons or markers
- Dental Supplies
Family members, friends and co-workers are encouraged to come out and join in the fun. It's for a great cause and will positively impact the lives of the children that OneChild services.
